Prince Harry 'thrilled' after announcing he is to marry Meghan Markle

Prince Harry has said he is “thrilled” after announcing that he is to marry the American actor Meghan Markle next spring.

Congratulations have flooded in for the couple, who appeared in public for a photoshoot at Kensington Palace on Monday afternoon, hours after making their engagement public.

Holding hands, the couple spoke briefly. Harry, wearing a navy blue suit and matching tie, said he was “thrilled, over the moon”. He declined to give details about the engagement, which happened this month in London, but joked: “Of course it was romantic.” Asked when he knew Markle was “the one”, he said: “The very first time we met.”

Markle, wearing a white wrap coat, displayed her engagement ring and said she was “so very happy”, rubbing Harry’s arm affectionately as the couple smiled for the cameras.

ROYAL WEDDING DATE: PRINCE WILLIAM AND KATE MIDDLETON TO MARRY ON APRIL 29

Prince William and Kate Middleton are to marry at Westminster Abbey on April 29, 2011, which has been declared a bank holiday in celebration.

April 29 falls on a Friday and the Government has designated it as a bank holiday. David Cameron welcomed the announcement of the royal wedding date, which he said would be a "happy and momentous occasion".

The Prime Minister added: "We want to mark the day as one of national celebration - a public holiday will ensure the most people possible will have a chance to celebrate on the day."

The timing of the wedding will mean there will be two four-day public holidays, two weekends in succession. The Monday after the wedding, May 2, is already a designated bank holiday; and the previous weekend is Easter, which also has two bank holidays on the Friday and Monday.

The couple, who revealed their engagement to the world last week, were described as "over the moon" about their forthcoming wedding.

Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, the prince's private secretary, said: "They’re on cloud nine like any other newly engaged couple and they’re now getting stuck into organising their wedding.

ROYAL WEDDING - GAME

The main objective of this game is to make sure William and Kate's wedding goes according to plan. Players will help the two lovebirds were prepared at the same time ensure the event venue can be used.

This game has four levels short. At the first level, players must help William tidy her bedroom at Buckingham Palace and find the items needed.

At the second level, turn to Kate who need assistance to prepare at home. After that the players will go to Westminister Abbey to clean up the venue. Finally, after the wedding ceremony is completed, players must prepare the reception party.

PRINCE WILLIAM AND KATE WEDDING INVITATION

The invitations for Prince William and Kate Middleton's highly anticipated royal wedding have been mailed out, and we have a first look!

Approximately 1,900 invitations were sent out for the Friday, April 29 event, set to take place in London's Westminster Abbey.

Beneath a crown die-stamped in gold and then burnished, the text on the invitation is also die-stamped, while the edges of the invitation are bevelled then gilded. The text reads: "The Lord Chamberlain is commanded by The Queen to invite ______ to the Marriage of His Royal Highness Prince William of Wales, K.G. with Miss Catherine Middleton at Westminster Abbey on Friday, 29th April, 2011 at 11 a.m."

According to the Prince of Wales' website, among those invited include over 1,000 of Prince William and Miss Middleton's family and friends; over 50 Members of the royal family; over 40 members of foreign royal families; over 200 members of government, parliament and diplomatic corps; approximately 80 guests drawn from Prince William's charities; 60 governors-general and realm prime ministers; and 30 Members of the defence services.

Attendees of the 11 a.m. ceremony are expected to dress in "uniform, morning coat or lounge suit." Following the wedding, approximately 600 people have been invited to the lunchtime reception at Buckingham Palace given by The Queen, and around 300 people have been invited to the dinner at Buckingham Palace given by The Prince of Wales.

THE MINUTE-TO-MINUTE ROYAL WEDDING DAY TIMELINE

Prince William and Kate Middleton's engagement has been documented to a T and their wedding on April 29 will be no different. Here's the couple's confirmed schedule -- by the minute -- for the headline-making day.

Between 8:15 a.m. and 9:45 a.m.: The general congregation will arrive at the Great North Door of Westminster Abbey.

From 9:50 a.m.: Governors-General and Prime Ministers of Realm Countries, the Diplomatic Corps, and other distinguished guests arrive at the Abbey.

10:10 a.m.: The Bridegroom and Prince Harry of Wales leave Clarence House for Westminster Abbey. They arrive at the Abbey at 10:15 a.m.
